“Driving while Black” or "DWB" is offense very familiar to the black community in America and often the reason police will pull them over. That’s right, for merely driving while black.
Sounds silly doesn’t it, but that’s because it is! With medias pushing forward the perception that crime has a color has lead to the police and even the community completely believing that to be true. Who knew crime has a color.
Supported by the images in the media and news, people of color are often the stereotypical face of crime in the media despite the fact that crime has been proven to be equal among all races. No race commits more crime or less crime than another.
Crime is not a racial issue, yet that is what it has become.

The result has been many unfair police searches, stops, and even worse murder. The victims become people of color who are sought out as criminals despite their innocence. An example could be seen in New York’s stop and frisk policies or even the tragedy of Trayvon Martin. Minority groups are sought out and judged guilty until proven innocent. A little backwards don’t you think?
