Hope Worldwide is an organization whose mission is founded off of the biblical principals of helping the poor and the needy. They do a variety of missions across the world with a goal of providing assistance wherever it is needed. The Hope Worldwide organization began small but blossomed when they paired up with the International Churches of Christ (ICOC). The ICOC has churches all around the world and HOPE Worldwide suddenly had volunteers from all around the world inspired by biblical principles now at their side ready to help. I am actually a member of the ICOC and have had several interactions with the good that HOPE Worldwide serves. The reason why I wanted to highlight HOPE Worldwide is because of their recent “Superheroes for Orphans” event. This event worked to bring awareness and fundraise for orphans from HIV/AIDs in various countries in Africa.
The event was to be a walkathon in superhero costumes that brought attention to the unbelievable amount of orphans across the world. The reason why the theme was superheroes was because a lot of the most popular superheroes were orphans as well as the mere fact that everyone loves superheroes especially the orphans themselves. The event raised several hundred dollars that goes directly to the organizations and town that HOPE Worldwide supports. Their outreach crossed several mediums including social media, video shorts, and even in person at the ICOC churches throughout Georgia and surrounding state. They worked hard to raise awareness around the Metro-Atlanta area and consequently had a very successful event at Georgia Institute of Technology. The event overall was fun, but the rewarding aspect was the video correspondence with those that our event had directly helped. It was beautiful to see how we could help the people around us.
HOPE Worldwide is a huge part of what led me to want to write about activism for orphans. I was strongly affected by the event and the awareness it brought to the state of orphans globally. It helmed me to be aware and planted a seed that continued to produce. So I hope as you explore the page. As HOPE Worldwide inspired me to become an activist for orphans, I hope that the same goes for you and you are inspired to look more into ways to actively fight for orphans.
